Women in the Sushi World

Some of the more old fashioned people in Japan have an unfortunate discomfort with women being sushi chefs. They claim that it’s either inappropriate for women to work in such a field, or that sushi made by women is simply not as good. The reasons given for this are not always the same, though they rarely hold much water. One of the most frequently cited justifications is that women, possessing of more fiery emotions, have warmer hands, which serve to cook the raw fish too much. This is, of course, absurd, not only because you can’t cook fish with human hands but because men’s hands are actually slightly warmer on average.

At our Issaquah sushi restaurant, we are pleased to employ our chefs entirely based on their personal merit. Come and join us for your favorite sushi today!
